President Obama's School Speech

President Obama's School Speech

On September 14,2010 President Barack Obama gave a speech at the Julia R. Masterman and Demostration School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I was inspired, inspired by the solidarity that President Obama has with us. He spoke not only to the students but he spoke to the hardworking school officials and also to the parents. He reminded us about how we are going through a recession. He also spoke about the war in Afghanistan and how it was affected many of us. "But I know some of you may also be a little nervous about starting a new school year. Maybe you’re making the jump from elementary to middle school, or from middle school to high school, and you’re worried about what that’s going to be like. Maybe you’re starting a new school. You’re not sure how you’ll like it, trying to figure out how you’re going to fit in. Or maybe you’re a senior, and you’re anxious about the whole college process; about where to apply and whether you can afford to go to college". He also speaks about how he is aware that their are many difficulties to get into college because you cant afford it.

"Because one of the things I’ve discovered is excelling -- whether it’s in school or in life -- isn’t mainly about being smarter than everybody else. That’s not really the secret to success. It’s about working harder than everybody else. So don’t avoid new challenges -- seek them out, step out of your comfort zone, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Your teachers and family are there to guide you. They want to know if you’re not catching on to something because they know that if you keep on working at it, you’re going to catch on".He is saying how you dont have to be scared to step out your comfort zone dont be scared to try new things and dont say you cant do it without giving it a try to other if someone can do something you can do it better. When ever you don't know how to do something you can always ask for help never give up without trying.

In my opinion the way that I am going to achieve my goals for this school year is by doing my best with all my classes not just by getting by but by giving my classes my undivided attention. Every time I do something I will do it better each time, I will to not be scared to try new things in life. I will also be in school on time take extra curiculum classes, and get by my normal classes daily. I will take notes ask questions when I don't know something or ain't to sure about it. I will also be absent any more unless is a real emergency or I'm really sick at home.
